Overview

The Stifel Venture Banking partnership represents a distinctive model within the PlayVS sponsorship portfolio — one focused on career education and professional development rather than brand impressions or event activation. I led the partnership structure and program delivery, working to create meaningful connections between Stifel’s financial professionals and students in the greater Los Angeles area.

Campaign Components

The program provided PlayVS platform access to three schools in the greater Los Angeles area for the 2025 season, giving students in those communities access to structured competitive esports programming. The platform access served as the foundation for a deeper engagement: direct school visits where Stifel partners and leaders from the esports industry came into classrooms to discuss careers in gaming.

These sessions were designed to broaden student understanding of the range of professional pathways that exist within and adjacent to the gaming industry — from finance and business development to marketing, production, and technology. Stifel’s involvement gave the conversations credibility from the financial sector, while PlayVS’s esports leadership provided authentic industry context.

Results

The partnership successfully created direct dialogue between financial industry professionals and students who are actively engaged in gaming — an audience that is often underserved by traditional career education programs. By using competitive gaming as the entry point, Stifel was able to engage students in a context they trust and in a setting that felt relevant to their interests.

This model — using esports access as a vehicle for broader career education — is directly aligned with PlayVS’s educational mission and demonstrates how non-endemic brands can build genuine relationships with the scholastic gaming community.
